The government’s cybersecurity arm has issued a high-severity warning urging Apple device owners to install the latest security updates immediately after researchers and agencies flagged multiple vulnerabilities affecting iOS, iPadOS, macOS and other Apple software. The advisory highlights that unpatched devices may be at risk of arbitrary code execution, privilege escalation and data exposure.

What’s the risk?

According to the advisory and reporting from major outlets, several flaws in Apple components — including WebKit, Image/Font processing and system frameworks — can be weaponised by attackers to crash devices, run malicious code or steal sensitive information. Some of these issues have already been added to vulnerability tracking lists because of evidence of active exploitation.

Which devices are affected?

The warning covers a wide range of Apple products — iPhones, iPads, Macs, Apple Watches, Apple TV and related software such as Safari and Xcode — depending on the software version installed. Agencies emphasise that both older and some recently supported OS versions may contain critical patches that users should apply.

What you should do right now

Security bodies recommend three immediate steps: (1) Install the latest OS updates (Settings → General → Software Update on iPhone/iPad; System Settings → General → Software Update on macOS); (2) Enable automatic updates so future fixes are applied promptly; and (3) Only install apps from the App Store and avoid clicking suspicious links or attachments. If you manage multiple devices, update them all — attackers often try to exploit the weakest device on an account.

Why official updates matter

Apple publishes security release notes and rapid security responses that list fixed vulnerabilities and affected versions. Installing official updates closes known exploits that are actively being tracked by agencies such as CERT-In and CISA, reducing the chance of targeted or mass attacks.

Bottom line

If you own any Apple device, treat this as urgent: back up your data and update now. Keeping devices current is the single most effective step to stay safe against newly discovered and actively exploited vulnerabilities. For full technical details, consult Apple’s security updates page and your national CERT advisory.
