Pranav Mohanlal’s horror thriller, Dies Irae, has decisively passed the crucial Monday test, signaling a major victory at the box office. The film, directed by Rahul Sadasivan, has not only maintained its strong weekend momentum but has also positioned itself to surpass the lifetime box office record of the director’s previous Mammootty-starrer, Bramayugam, in just its first week.

According to trade reports, the film garnered an estimated ₹3.00 crore India net on its fourth day (Monday), taking the total India net collection to an impressive ₹19.75 crore. This remarkable figure means Dies Irae is now inching toward the ₹20 crore net milestone—a significant achievement for a psychological horror film in the Malayalam industry.

The Monday Hold: A Box Office Blitz

The true testament to a film’s success lies in its weekday collections. After a stellar opening weekend (₹16.75 Cr net), the film’s Monday drop of approximately 52.76% is considered a healthy trend, especially given the high occupancy. The film registered an overall 33.29% Malayalam occupancy on its fourth day, with evening and night shows showing a tremendous hold, particularly in key centers like Kochi and Trivandrum. This positive word-of-mouth has translated into steady footfalls, ensuring the film’s longevity.

The film’s worldwide gross has already shot up to an estimated ₹44.25 crore in just four days. This stunning global performance, driven by a strong overseas market collection of ₹21.00 crore, suggests the film is resonating far beyond Kerala’s borders.

Bramayugam Record in Sight

Rahul Sadasivan, who earlier delivered the acclaimed horror films Bhoothakaalam and Bramayugam, seems to have struck gold again. While Bramayugam ended its theatrical run with a global gross of roughly ₹30 crore, trade analysts predict that Dies Irae will cross the ₹50 crore global gross mark before it completes its first full week.

If the current trend persists, Dies Irae box office collections day 4 have provided the necessary launchpad for Pranav Mohanlal to achieve a hat-trick of ₹50 crore grossers, following the successes of Hridayam and Varshangalkku Shesham. This success further cements Pranav’s evolution into a commercially formidable lead actor in Mollywood, capable of driving both genre and star-driven hits.

The film’s low production budget (around ₹12 crore) means it has already secured profits, making this box office run a massive commercial and critical win for the entire team.
