The Vellore Institute of Technology (VIT) has officially launched the VITEEE 2026 registration process for aspiring engineering students across the country. The online application portal is now live at viteee.vit.ac.in, offering candidates the opportunity to secure admission to B.Tech programs at VIT’s prestigious campuses in Vellore, Chennai, Bhopal, and Amaravati.

Registration Timeline and Key Dates

VITEEE 2026 registration commenced on October 24, 2025, and will remain open until March 31, 2026. Students are advised to complete their applications well before the deadline to avoid last-minute technical difficulties. The computer-based entrance examination is scheduled to take place from April 28 to May 3, 2026, at designated test centers across India and abroad.

Results are expected to be declared in the second week of May 2026, with the counselling process beginning shortly thereafter. The entire admission process, from registration to final seat allotment, will be conducted online through the official website.

Major Changes in Exam Pattern

In a significant update, VIT has introduced negative marking for VITEEE 2026. The examination will comprise 125 multiple-choice questions covering Mathematics or Biology (40 questions), Physics (35 questions), Chemistry (35 questions), Aptitude (10 questions), and English (5 questions).

Each correct answer will fetch 4 marks, while 1 mark will be deducted for every incorrect response. The exam duration remains 2 hours and 30 minutes, and the question paper will be available only in English.

To apply for VITEEE 2026 registration, candidates must have passed or be appearing for Class 12 or equivalent examination with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics or Biology as core subjects. General category students require a minimum of 60% aggregate in PCM/PCB, while SC/ST candidates and those from Jammu & Kashmir, Ladakh, and Northeastern states need 50%.

The age criteria specifies that applicants must be born on or after July 1, 2004. Indian nationals, NRIs, and foreign nationals are eligible to apply for the examination.
